A Field Guide to Newtopia
A downloadable game
What is A Field Guide to Newtopia, exactly?
It’s a book, a large format role playing game source book in the mode of Dungeons and Dragons, Pathfinder, or Warhammer 40K - a 9x11 hardcover, littered with maps, illustrations and randomized tables. The book describes the land of Newtopia at three scales, a fantastical, utopian city of metallic newts and salamanders; the subterrane factory floor beneath that city; and the many strange environs beyond the city’s edge. This post focuses on the physical layout of those enumerated and described areas - tiled hexagons, commonly called hexes.

This sounds like a lot of fun! I’m interested in what you mean by “old-school 5th Edition.” Just running OSR-style with the Basic Rules?
The book is intended to be workably system-neutral, and to not require outside statistics or tables for resolution.
Creatures, spells, items, and the like do have their own chapters of statistics blocks appropriate for the fifth edition of the big game - Challenge Ratings, GP costs, etc.
All sections rely on some classic OSR mechanics - d6 tables, hexagonal travel areas, growth/evolution via hit die (HD), and a focus on wildlife and wild environments.
Awesome, ok! Thanks for the info!
